There are several known genetic abnormalities that occur on chromosome 11. 
Abnormalities, mutations, or missing parts of this chromosome can lead to various syndromes, of which the most common is Jacobsen syndrome

Each chromosome consists of two arms: a short arm (called p) and a long arm (called q). The syndromes associated with chromosome 11 can be divided in ones that occur on the long arm (11q) or on the short arm (11p).
